Radarsign’s StreetSmart data collection software is very easy to use once it is installed. And the Radarsign speed signs are easy to use, they really are plug and play. The signs have helped considerably in slowing drivers by making them aware of their speed.
On a 35 mile per hour roadway, where the average speed was almost 39 mph, the signs brought that down to 35.5. Peak speeds there were at 44 mph and came down to 41. What we learned is that the average, more responsible driver is much more in tune with the sign than the 85 percentile drivers who tend to ignore it no matter what.
The devices themselves have functioned very well. We can have harsh winters and it gets really hot in the summers, and they’ve held up extremely well. Our TC-600S signs have been reliable in every way, and Radarsign’s customer service, sales and tech support have been terrific.
We purchased the 4 signs to be used on a long street that connects the residential area leading into and out of the school university. We noticed lots of speeding on this long stretch of road so they have placed 2 signs east bound 2 signs west bound.
The administrative staff have noted that they are noticing people are slowing down and that has made them very happy with our purchase.
Radarsign was always our first choice. Our experience with Radarsign has been great; I have no complaints….We purchased the sign with the blue and red flashers option, and it’s quite alarming to some drivers; they make the adjustment pretty quick. We definitely see people slow down when they see the signs.
We use the sign to calm citizens’ concerns about speeding in their neighborhoods. Those who have a problem, we put it in their yard and share the results with them. We also post it on Facebook so the community knows what is going on.
Often people standing in their yard watching cars pass think that the cars are going much faster than they are. This shows residents the true speed.
Residents love the signs because they can sit and watch drivers’ reactions. I’ve sat in my unmarked car and watched drivers get on the brakes when the sign starts flashing that they’re going too fast.
We really liked the portability aspect of the Radarsign products. We looked at 4 or 5 manufacturers, then chose Radarsign primarily because of its portability. We can put those signs all over town. From deployment, we’ve seen them change the behavior…It has helped us tremendously.
And our TC-400 is so easy to use! I also drive a school bus. I’ve found that I can sit on my bus when I’m stopped near the signs, download the data and take it to the office.
Radarsign has excellent customer service. We were having an operational issue about a year ago with a couple of the signs and tech support was outstanding in resolving it.
The city plans to use the traffic data to secure grants for sidewalks and other street improvements. The StreetSmart software has been very helpful with gathering the information that city operations need to develop the grant proposals.
The signs are working well. From my unmarked vehicle, I have watched as cars react to the sign. It has slowed them down dramatically.
Some 60,000 people move through the Georgia Tech jurisdiction each day. We chose Radarsign primarily because of the data gathering capabilities of the Streetsmart software. Several other vendors had it available, but required an annual fee. The value of that software functionality over the lifetime of the signs—and not a recurring cost—was a better deal.
Customer service, especially, has been quick and responsive. A lot of vendors make promises during the sales phase, then are hard to reach when you need them. But not Radarsign.
Our radar signs have been money well spent. We’ve spent a lot of money on off-duty officers and Florida Highway Patrol officers to curtail speeding and keep our residents safe.
The board likes the information I provide and asked us to publish the results from the Streetsmart software in our newsletter to residents. So it’s turned into a communication tool for us, as well.
We are very pleased with our signs. We use them in school zones and downtown. We pull data on occasion, doing before-and -after analysis. The results show a significant drop in speed. The Radarsign signs require minimal maintenance without any headache. We put them out and let them do their job.
We looked at several vendors, but only Radarsign really fit with what we needed. Most couldn’t display a low enough speed for us for use in a warehouse—Radarsign does.
