The first sign we bought proved effective. The analytical data is amazing. Our city council plans to authorize acquisition of another sign.
We used to borrow radar speed trailer from the county sheriff. But whenever we asked for it, it was always being used. A nearby community had the TC-400, we liked how it could be moved around. We bought multiple brackets so we could easily install it in different locations. It’s a great product.
Residents often overestimate speeds by at least 10 mph. When I show them the actual reports, they are grateful that I came by.
The software is so easy to use. We’ve had a few signs from another manufacturer and those were horrible; you need a degree in order to run their software. With Radarsign, I pull data when our police officers ask for it and it’s really straightforward.
Within two months of installing the sign, a drunk driver crashed and wiped out the sign. When city workers retrieved it from the side of the highway, we were shocked to find that it wasn’t destroyed. The signs are made fantastically. Some minor repairs needed to be made and it was like new.
It would be expensive to add salary for a security guard to be available daily to monitor the area for speeding. The sign is a small thing that could have cost substantially more and it’s paying for itself.
We wanted to make sure we reduced speeding, which the sign has done. Even without looking at the data, you can tell people have slowed down.
Radarsign’s StreetSmart data collection software is very easy to use once it is installed. And the Radarsign speed signs are easy to use, they really are plug and play. The signs have helped considerably in slowing drivers by making them aware of their speed.
We generally pull the 85th percentile data and see what’s happening in certain areas and at specific times. If we see something unusual, we’ll send it to the sheriff and ask them to increase patrols.
It is working great. There has been a really good response. The townspeople are impressed. It is very easy to move. We absolutely love it. We leave the brackets up so that we can easily move it from one place to another.
I know we used to sit there and within only a couple of minutes we’d be able to stop somebody for speeding. Now my traffic guys pretty much ignore that area because the radar sign is taking care of the problem.
We have only one patrol officer. People complain about speeders but we can’t keep an officer everywhere. This is like our second police officer.
The sign is definitely reducing speeds. We know the communication is working, too, because everyone is talking about the sign and the strobes. And due to the fact that we just ordered two more signs, I’d say that speaks for itself.
