We looked at 2 or 3 manufacturers and decided on Radarsign because of the company’s background in law enforcement, reviews from existing customers and the TC-400 just seemed to be one of the more durable and trustworthy signs out there.
We went through a competitive bid and pricing process with three vendors before selecting Radarsign. We were particularly interested in Radarsign’s solar and battery backup capabilities. We got great customer service when I was asking questions—and I asked a ton of questions.
We selected Radarsign because it was the most economical, and the TC-400 offered the features we needed. It is much easier to use and transport than a speed trailer.
The TC-400 is a very useful tool. If someone complains about speeders—especially in neighborhoods—we move the sign to that area and collect the data. Then we call the person who voiced the complaint to come in and we go over the data with them. They’re usually surprised to see that the problem isn’t as bad as they thought. In some neighborhoods where it’s already been, the residents are now asking for it to come back.
We looked for alternatives to our old speed trailer, we liked the Radarsign TC-400 because it could fit in the back seat of the patrol car and be relocated so easily.

Before the signs were up, the cars didn’t slow down, especially the big trucks. After the signs were installed, I can see people up ahead slowing down. Everybody hits their brakes.
I am more than satisfied with our TC-400 signs and the results we get. We run the signs for about 10 days in each location, moving them according to citizen complaints as well as plans for various roadways. We can collect data to see if we actually have problems with speeders in certain areas, and we can take traffic counts too.
After we started putting our signs up around the county, the Sheriff’s department was here asking a bunch of questions, and they ended up buying 2 signs as well.

We purchased the 4 signs to be used on a long street that connects the residential area leading into and out of the school university. We noticed lots of speeding on this long stretch of road so they have placed 2 signs east bound 2 signs west bound.

We use the StreetSmart software for data collection. We download it and keep it on hand, so if there is a complaint we can see what was going on.
We like the wi-fi model more than the bluetooth connection because it is 10x faster when downloading data.
