The police department was not always able to dispatch officers to monitor and hand out tickets. We saw the TC-400 as a way to solve that problemespecially since it is portable and we can move it around easily.

The TC-400 signs give us a lot of data, and definitely helps with data trends. I usually collect data for 4-8 streets each month. We use it in our end-of-year reports to the county to show our high priority areas for enforcement.
The Radarsign brand signs are also a ‘feel good’ measure for our area. It lets the citizens know we’re there and keeping an eye on things without having to be out there all the time. It’s been a great tool for us.
We bought Radarsign because of cost and features, including: larger readout, battery power, no down time with snow even when the solar panel was covered with snow. It is pretty dependable.
The solar power works really well. We get a lot of snow and the unit was placed in a shady location, however ours has always worked. We’ve observed signs by other manufacturers that didn’t perform in the snow, they didn’t have power.
This is the first year that the city can plan to use radar signs on main thoroughfares in the winter because, unlike speed trailers, these will not interfere with snow plows. They will not have to be moved when the streets need to be cleared.
We can use them almost anywhere, even on streets that were previously inaccessible to speed trailers.
Some of our Radarsigns have been up for more than 12 years, and we’ve never even had to upgrade. They just work.
