Radarsign in the News: Grant Allows North Hempstead, NY to Purchase 24 Driver Feedback Signs
As reported by the The Williston Times, “Drivers in Williston Park, East Williston and Westbury will soon get a reminder to watch their speed that will be hard to miss.”
With support from New York state Senator Jack Martings (R-Mineola), the Town of North Hempstead applied for a grant from the state’s Division of Criminal Justice. The decision to pursue grant funds for the project came after seeing an increase in traffic fatalities attributed to speeding drivers.
North Hempstead town Supervisor, Judi Bosworth, said, “We hope that the new radar activated speed signs will encourage those taking to the roads to practice safe driving habits,”
Driver feedback signs from Radarsign® are scientifically proven to slow speeding drivers. Drivers’ response when shown their current speed, as reported in this article, is part of a psychological concept known as a feedback loop. This concept acknowledges that when drivers are provided information about their actions in real time and given an opportunity to change their actions, they are likely to choose better behaviors.
